If you’ve been following along, you know that Friday I had the pleasure of styling The Mowgli’s for their television debut on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. This friendly group of musicians were a pleasure to work with and being at The Tonight Show was definitely memorable. My favorite part was watching the band rehearse. I got to walk on stage with them, then I took a seat in the audience with friends and family to watch them sing their infectious single “San Francisco”. Like most styling jobs, it was a roller coaster of very exciting moments (like watching the band get pumped up and a little emotional right before showtime and watching Chris Matthews, Jay Leno and Key and Peele hobnob in the halls of the studio) and really boring ones (endless steaming of clothes, inventory and lots of iPhone time). The boys in the band almost all got new jeans and tees from Cult of Individuality, button downs from Goodale and shoes from Modern Vice. Katie, the feminine touch of the eight person band, ended up in a fantastic maxi dress by Love Sam. We piled on gold accessories from Jen’s Pirate Booty and some cute fringe booties from Target (shhh, taken from the manual “How to style a band on a budget”). So with that and her red hair and bright smile she absolutely popped, mission accomplished. Check out their performance here.
