My trip to San Francisco was filled with familiar sights and sounds-the colors of the Mission District, trolley bells, an old friend’s happy face and of course a foggy view of the Golden Gate. But with every trip there, I’m always glad to see and experience something new. This time it was Jeremy Novy’s stenciled street paintings of koi fish. I first saw them in The Orbit Room where they led me to the restroom and when I asked my friends about them, they said they were all around the city. Of course they were, so San Francisco! Novy first started stenciling his koi around 2008, now there are over 2,000 in the city. He has said he’s drawn to koi because he looks like one, referring to a birthmark on his forehead. He once considered having it removed until his aunt told him about koi and how their individual markings are what give them their beauty. His drawings and story inspired me to put this (my first mood board) together of some fashion friendly fish. PS-bonus points to anyone who picked up on the Megamind reference-love that movie, maybe more than the girls.

Not sure what I love more… the koi theme (and stuff) or the mood board itself. So awesome.
